We offer you a typical dessert of Scicli, "The Turco's Head", which has a particular history! Its name derives, in fact, from the battle fought in the plain that gives to the sea of Donnalucata, township Sciclitana. On that occasion, on a March night of 1091, the Saracen army deployed his troops against the Normans in a war to the death. At this point, the Madonna gone down in the field and thanks to a sharp sword in her right hand cut the heads of numerous Saracen enemies in defense of faithful Christians. From this legend these delicious desserts are born to honor the trophies, represented by the heads of the Turks, defeated in battle. In addition, you can taste the cooked cream with peach mousse or tabacchiera (typical Sicilian crushed peach). Even among the desserts, the seasonal fruit is indispensable, served in small pieces with crmbs of shortcrust pastry.
